12-5A GIRLS SOCCER: Jaguars, Skeeters pick up victories

Horn continued its ascent up the 12-5A standings on Tuesday as they outlasted Rockwall-Heath in a shootout for a 2-1 victory.
The Jaguars (2-0-1-0) now have eight points in district play, putting them one point behind Longview (3-1-0-0 nine points), who has played one extra game.
The match with Rockwall-Heath was tight throughout, with Horn only managing a goal by Robin Lee off an assist from Courtney King in regulation.
The teams remained deadlocked through two overtimes, sending the game to penalty kicks.
Jordan Kondikoff, Brooke Hill and Isabel Gracia all converted their attempts, and goalkeeper Bayleah Hill made a pair of key saves to give the Jaguars the win.
Horn had a much easier time on Friday, getting goals from Liz Campos, Arianna Duckworth, Torri Sayman and Kondikoff in a 4-1 victory over Tyler Lee.
The Jaguars have a big week ahead with matches against crosstown rival Mesquite on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at E.H. Hanby Stadium, and then a potential showdown for first place with Longview on Tuesday at Hanby.
Horn cannot get caught looking ahead to the Lobos, though. Mesquite (2-2-0-0, six points) picked up three points with a 3-1 win over Tyler Lee on Tuesday and is now tied for third place with Rockwall.
North Mesquite (1-2-0-1, four points) fell back into fifth place with a 3-1 loss to Longview on Tuesday. Kory Dixon scored for the Stallions, but it was not enough.
The Stallions have a good opportunity to make up some ground against the two teams at the bottom of the 12-5A standings when they play Rockwall-Heath on Friday and Tyler Lee on Tuesday.
