The three Haggard Middle School counselors who suddenly resigned this month have reached a settlement agreement.

A joint statement issued Wednesday by Plano ISD and the resigning counselors states the three counselors have withdrawn their grievances as part of the agreement.

Counselors Penny Hale, Robin Taylor and Mary White resigned Feb. 1. The news came as a surprise to parents, who began demanding the district explain why the well-regarded counselors resigned on the same day.

The statement did not detail the circumstances surrounding the resignations but said the grievances did not involve allegations of age discrimination. It also states the counselors were not terminated, were not facing any disciplinary action and were not under investigation at the time of their resignations.

All parties agreed to the counselors' resignations, and the agreement did not cause any of the counselors to lose compensation or benefits, the statement reads. The counselors are prevented from discussing the matter, it says, and the district will not make further comment on the issue.

The district stated last week the teachers will remain on paid personal leave until their effective resignation dates. Hale and White will effectively resign at the end of the fall 2013 semester, while Taylor's resignation date will be the last day of the 2012-13 school year.

All three counselors were replaced following their resignations.
