11-5A BOYS SOCCER: Mustangs edge North Garland

The second half of the 11-5A soccer season got started on Tuesday and Sachse continued its recent rise in the standings.

The Mustangs won their third consecutive match by edging North Garland, 3-2. Casey Eaton scored a pair of goals and Jose Cruz added another.

Sachse is now 5-2 as it moves ahead of Rowlett (4-2), who was idle on Tuesday.

The Mustangs had been coming off a 3-1 win over Naaman Forest on Friday, getting goals from Eaton, Josh Brown and Gabriel Alvarez.

Rowlett closed the first half of the district season by squeaking by Lakeview on Friday with a 1-0 win.

South Garland (4-2) and Naaman Forest (3-3) are also in the hunt for the 11-5A title as the season hits its stretch run.

Sachse will try to continue its strong run on Friday at 8 p.m. at Homer B. Johnson Stadium against Lakeview, while Rowlet faces Garland at 6 p.m. at Williams Stadium.

Those two teams will then meet in a showdown on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Williams Stadium.
