Brianna Hinojosa-Flores is a familiar face in the city of Coppell. She served on the city council for seven years and was instrumental in the development of the Coppell 2030 Plan and its initiative to build partnerships with businesses, organizations, schools and individuals in order to promote living a healthy lifestyle. But, there's something Hinojosa-Flores feels she has yet to accomplish -- representing the state of Texas in the United States House of Representatives.

Remembering the fallen: Local police departments pay homage to lost officers
As the summer sun shone brightly last Tuesday morning, 19 officers from four local police departments stood at attention, representing four fallen officers from local departments and 15 from around the state. The crowd gathered to respect, honor and remember the deceased officers as part of the annual Metrocrest Law Enforcement Memorial Service.
Public servants recognized at Coppell Employee Awards Banquet
The City of Coppell recently hosted the annual Employee Recognition and Awards Presentation Banquet last month, recognizing city employees for their outstanding public service and tenure. More than 90 employees were honored for multiple years of service as department directors emceed the event attended by more than 300 people.
Hunt wins close mayoral election
Mayoral candidates Marsha Tunnell and Karen Hunt were battling it out late into Saturday evening, election night, and the final results showed an incredibly close call. But Hunt proved victorious, finishing with 55 percent of the votes, leaving Tunnell trailing close behind with 45 percent.

While Place 3 had several candidates in an election that eventually resulted in a runoff, the Place 4 election proved to be a calm one as two candidates anxiously awaited results.
Small margin: Runoff election scheduled for Garcia, Mays
The unofficial results for the special election of Place 3 show a runoff election will be held between Wes Mays and Greg Garcia, as no candidate was able to obtain more than 50 percent of the votes. The runoff election for Place 3 will be held June 23.
