The voters have spoken: New council electees ready to get to work

With all the votes tallied in the 2013 joint election, two new councilwomen and one incumbent councilman were chosen to serve the city. Mayor Todd Gottel ran unopposed and will serve a second term as mayor. Voter turnout was extremely low during the election, with the highest race receiving 1,132 votes.

In the most highly contested race for the Place No. 2 city council seat, Tammy Dana-Bashian was able to secure enough votes to avoid a runoff. Dana-Bashian captured 53.45 percent of the vote compared to Pauline Dedrick, who captured 25.53 percent of the vote, and Pam Bell, who garnered 21.02 percent of the vote.
