Calculating conservation efforts: NTMWD launches website to compute landscape water needs

The North Texas Municipal Water District, in partnership with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service (AgriLife), is offering a new tool that computes landscape water needs based on local weather conditions. NTMWD is launching this water efficiency tool in recognition of Drinking Water Week. The website, www.WaterMyYard.org, has been developed to assist in determining an adequate amount of supplemental water that is needed to maintain a healthy landscape.

The district hopes residents take further steps for conservations after it voted to initiate Stage 3 of the NTMWD Water Conservation and Drought Contingency and Water Emergency Response plan effective June 1. The goal of Stage 3 is a 10 percent reduction in water use and increased awareness in ongoing water conservation efforts.
